Position Overview
The role of ETL Testing Engineer involves validating complex data processes to ensure data integrity and quality across enterprise systems. The position requires 3 to 10 years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on ETL and Data Warehouse testing methodologies.
Responsibilities and Expertise
- Conduct end-to-end testing of ETL processes including data migration, transformation, and reconciliation between source and target systems.
- Perform thorough data validation and quality checks to ensure accurate and reliable datasets.
- Use SQL extensively for writing queries, validating data, and performing reconciliations.
- Test Data Warehouse components such as dimensional models, fact and dimension tables, and data marts.
- Work with various ETL tools including Informatica, Talend, DataStage, or SSIS.
- Leverage knowledge of Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, HDFS, and Kafka during testing activities.
- Utilize test frameworks such as TestNG or JUnit along with SQL clients and Unix/Linux commands to automate and support testing tasks.
- Incorporate version control using Git and participate in CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
- Follow Agile development methodologies and standard software development and testing life cycles.
- Use defect tracking systems like JIRA or Azure Boards to log and monitor issues.
- Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities to resolve complex data testing challenges.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and team members regarding test status and results.
