About the Role

A reputable commercial flooring contractor serving clients across the US seeks a motivated Estimator to join their team. This role offers a chance to work closely with an experienced estimator before retirement, gaining mentorship and establishing a long-term career with a growing firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze plans, specifications, bidding documents, and project criteria thoroughly.
• Conduct precise quantity takeoffs using tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or equivalent software.
• Develop comprehensive project cost estimates and written proposals.
• Generate color-coded shop drawings to guide installation teams effectively.
• Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), Architect's Supplemental Instructions (ASIs), and bid clarifications in coordination with general contractors and project teams.
• Procure and negotiate material prices considering lead times and project timelines.
• Monitor project specifications, identify value engineering options, and address scope changes.
• Engage in scope reviews and pre-bid meetings to align project expectations.
• Ensure seamless transition of awarded projects to the Project Management department.
• Propose enhancements to estimating procedures and documentation.
• Foster strong working relationships with general contractors, vendors, and clients throughout the bidding phase.

Required Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of experience in construction estimating.
• Capability to interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in performing quantity takeoffs and developing precise cost calculations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Able to handle multiple bids and deadlines efficiently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Preferred Skills

• Experience specifically in commercial flooring estimation.
• Background in hospitality construction projects.
• Experience collaborating with general contractors.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar construction software.
• Familiarity with project management software such as Monday.com or FloorRight.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
