About the Role

Linsco Ltd is partnering with a reputable civil engineering contractor based in the East Midlands, who specialise in groundworks, brickwork, and related services in residential and commercial sectors. The company maintains a strong presence working with national housebuilders, developers and principal contractors, boasting a significant workload with ongoing expansion.

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join the pre-construction team and contribute significantly to tender preparation and project cost management to support the company's growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender invites, drawings, specifications, and contract documentation thoroughly.
• Develop detailed and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering and groundworks projects including infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, and external works.
• Perform quantity take-offs and measure requirements accurately from technical drawings and specifications.
• Procure and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare bills of quantities and pricing schedules meticulously.
• Engage with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather information and competitive pricing.
• Attend pre-tender meetings, client discussions, and site visits as necessary.
• Coordinate with commercial and operational teams to facilitate accurate project handovers post tender awards.
• Participate in value engineering processes and propose alternative construction methods where applicable.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering, groundworks, or infrastructure settings.
• Sound knowledge of groundworks elements such as drainage, foundations, roads, sewers, earthworks, and external works.
• Ability to interpret and analyse construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
• Skilled in preparing precise cost plans, tenders, and estimates.
• Commercially astute with great attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and negotiate.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software tools.
• Valid UK driving licence required.
• Relevant construction-related qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
