Job Overview
In the Estimator role, you will be integral in creating competitive bids for municipal construction ventures throughout Atlantic Canada. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, your duties include examining project drawings and specifications, performing accurate quantity take-offs, and formulating detailed cost estimates utilizing cost databases, first principles, and estimating software. You will facilitate the tendering process by managing bid documents, guaranteeing completeness, accuracy, and adherence to tender criteria.
Responsibilities
- Request and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Engage in collaborative peer reviews and negotiate bids.
- Participate in pre-bid and pre-award meetings; lead post-award sessions to ensure project initiation proceeds smoothly.
- Support Project Managers during bid-to-award transitions and supply estimating assistance during project handovers.
- Incorporate safety, environmental, and regulatory considerations within estimates and tender reviews.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Civil Engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent education combined with estimating experience.
- Possesses at least 3 years of direct civil estimating experience, preferably with asphalt municipal and DTI-related projects.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with municipal projects in Atlantic Canada or equivalent markets is advantageous.
- Experience using HCSS HeavyBid or similar heavy civil estimating software is preferred.

- Lump sum heavy civil provincial and national projects.
