About the Role
We are seeking two experienced Electrical Estimators to join a well-established national leader in industrial electrical and instrumentation contracting, based in Kenner, Louisiana. The company operates as a subsidiary of a publicly traded Fortune 500 firm and engages in large industrial projects valued from $40 million to $500 million across sectors like oil & gas, petrochemical, midstream, renewable energy, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed quantity and material takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates by reviewing project documentation.
- Analyze project scope changes and prepare pricing for change orders.
- Provide labor-hour and cost details to engineering, planning, and scheduling teams.
- Assist in project change management throughout their life cycle.
- Evaluate project risks and opportunities during bid preparation phase.
- Support purchasing and track projects after awards.
- Produce accurate estimates while adhering to tight bid deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with company procedures and estimating standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of electrical estimating experience, preferably more than 5 years.
- Proficient at reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Hands-on experience with estimating software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated with effective communication skills and team collaboration ability.
- Preferred experience includes familiarity with McCormick estimating software; candidates familiar with Accubid or similar tools will also be considered.
- Industrial construction exposure in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, midstream, or energy infrastructure is highly valued.
- Field electrical construction experience and background in renewable energy or data center projects are advantageous.
Work Environment and Schedule
- The role is primarily office-based in Kenner, LA.
- Standard workweek is 40-50 hours, Monday to Friday, usually from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with about 30 minutes flexibility in start and end times.
- Minimal travel is required, generally 1-2 trips annually.
Salary and Benefits
The starting annual base salary ranges from $90,000 to $135,000 plus an annual performance bonus depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, 401(k) with company matching, and a comprehensive benefits package.
