Estimator II

Overview

Zachry Group is seeking a motivated Estimator to join our Estimating department. This role involves contributing to diverse and intriguing design projects for our customers. The position allows for remote work or may be based in one of our offices located in Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, Charlotte, or Omaha.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out various standard estimating tasks applying recognized techniques and criteria within assigned project phases.
• Compile estimate basis documentation that details craft work scopes along with sources for quantities, vendor pricing, and productivity data.
• Draft clarifications to explain estimate bases when proposal documents lack sufficient clarity.
• Develop comparisons between the current project's scope and similar past projects.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency in Cleopatra estimating software using Zachry-provided hardware is required.
• Reliable internet connection is necessary for performing the role.
• Certification in Aspen Capital Cost Estimator is preferred.
• Experience in estimating within process, power, or nuclear sectors is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

The position demands communication across various platforms including in person, telephone, email, and video conferencing. Fieldwork availability is required for scope walkdowns at job sites including maintenance and industrial facilities. Mobility includes navigating ground and elevated areas using stairs or ladders, and wearing required personal protective equipment such as fire retardant clothing, hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respiratory masks, safety vests, climbing harnesses, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

Work Environment

Primarily office-based work is expected, with occasional short-term assignments in trailers or buildings on customer sites. Job sites have moderate to high noise levels and contain a variety of equipment, materials, communication tools, and active personnel operating or signaling.
