Job description

About Us

At ANZ, our mission is to create a world in which both people and communities prosper. We are dedicated to enhancing the financial wellbeing and sustainability of millions of customers.

About The Role

We are seeking an Equity Analyst to join the Investment Management team at ANZ, based in Auckland. This role involves delivering thorough investment research and insights to foster strong client results across Australasian equity portfolios. Collaborating with the Head of Equities, Fund Managers, and the wider investment group, you will analyse publicly listed companies, discover attractive investment prospects, and influence portfolio success through well-founded recommendations and detailed market analysis.

You will build deep knowledge in assigned industry sectors, create comprehensive financial models, evaluate company valuations, and communicate investment ideas effectively to key stakeholders. Beyond fundamental research, your contributions will support strategic portfolio discussions, investment decisions, and uphold ANZ Investments' standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth research and analysis on Australasian listed companies, industry sectors, and market trends to pinpoint investment opportunities and threats.
  • Develop and sustain financial models, valuation tools, and investment recommendations that aid portfolio construction and enhance performance.
  • Present research outcomes and investment concepts to the Head of Equities, Fund Managers, and the investment team, contributing to informed debate and decisions.
  • Assist in portfolio management tasks, including analysing performance, preparing client reports, and crafting investment commentary for both internal and external audiences.
  • Establish strong relations with company executives, brokers, research providers, and other market participants to enrich insights and investment results.
  • Promote a culture of risk management and compliance by ensuring portfolios adhere to governance standards and supporting the handling of investment, operational, and regulatory risks.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in financial markets with competence in analysing businesses, sectors, and investment prospects, along with an understanding of market dynamics and performance drivers.
  • Strong skills in financial analysis, modelling, and problem-solving to evaluate risks, opportunities, and commercial outcomes.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine passion for investing, markets, and corporate performance.
  • Effective communication abilities to clearly and confidently present complex information and influence investment conversations.
  • A collaborative mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and capability to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Relevant tertiary education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields is advantageous. Progress towards or completion of professional certifications like the CFA is highly valued.
