Position Summary

The On-site Equipment Rental Programs (OERP) Specialist role at NorthStar Equipment Rentals (a Clark Builders division) involves overseeing training, onboarding, and daily management of on-site equipment rental initiatives. The specialist collaborates with project teams and vendors to ensure efficient equipment usage, movement, and upkeep throughout construction projects. Initially, the role is based in Edmonton, Alberta at the NorthStar Equipment Rentals main office, with a future assignment to a project site near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison for project teams and rental vendors, comprehending and implementing equipment requirements.
• Conduct site visits to engage stakeholders, manage equipment needs, maintenance, and equipment logistics between yard and project locations.
• Maintain excellent customer service and prompt communication to strengthen relationships with project stakeholders and rental vendors.
• Provide troubleshooting support for rental-related software, including inventory and contract management, encouraging adoption and compliance.
• Monitor rental equipment utilization, vendor billing, and verify invoice accuracy for on-site rental programs.
• Prepare preconstruction equipment rental information such as generating bids and equipment lists.
• Build and sustain vendor relationships to ensure dependable service quality and standards during projects.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or recognized certificate with at least 2 years of experience in construction rentals, logistics, equipment, or warehouse management or equivalent education and experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of construction equipment, jobsite logistics, and maintenance needs.
• Understanding of financial concepts, including budget forecasting.
• Strong active listening and follow-up skills.
• High organizational ability to manage on-site equipment rental programs effectively.
• Proficient logistics process thinking and clear communication of expectations.
• Capability to engage professionally with internal teams and external partners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication competencies.
• Experience with equipment rental software like Texada or Wynne RentalMan and procure-to-pay systems such as Coupa.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and tools (e.g., 5S, Lean).
• Adaptability to change and quick learning aptitude for new processes and technologies.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database applications.
• Willingness to travel regularly.

Physical Demands

The role necessitates frequent sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, manual handling, and communication activities. Visual abilities required include close and peripheral vision and depth perception, plus the ability to adjust focus. Employees must be capable of climbing stairs and ladders, using construction personnel hoists, and navigating construction environments. Lifting up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 25 pounds is expected.

Exposure to hazards such as moving machinery, heights, airborne particles, outdoor weather, and electrical risks is common on construction sites.
