We invite candidates who thrive in such an environment to apply for the Environmental Specialist (Tier 2) position based in Kenya.
Role Summary
The Environmental Specialist provides support across functional, technical, and administrative areas within the Environmental department. Key duties involve assisting with policy implementation aligned with company environmental strategies such as waste management, pollution prevention, permitting, hazardous materials compliance, underground and aboveground storage tank compliance, air and water regulatory adherence, and environmental management systems. The role also encompasses supporting training and audit processes that promote compliance, preparing technical documentation, interpreting environmental data, and occasionally participating in hazardous material responses or related field activities, including hazardous waste transport support.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a technical degree (2-year) in a relevant field or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Maintain between four to seven years of related professional experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and other specified software supporting the role’s functions.
- Intermediate level English language skills – reading, writing, speaking, and understanding – to ensure compliance with safety and contract requirements.
- Hold a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (Hazwoper) certification, and able to maintain its annual recertification.
- Authorized to work legally in Kenya.
