Environmental Specialist

Role Overview

This position requires a dedicated Environmental Specialist to oversee and enforce the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) aligned with Ashghal specifications as well as Qatar's environmental legislation. The role focuses on ensuring all environmental protocols are properly implemented throughout construction or infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and supervise the Environmental Management Plan in compliance with Ashghal and Qatari environmental guidelines.
• Carry out regular environmental inspections and audits to verify adherence to project standards.
• Track and assess environmental parameters including dust levels, noise pollution, wastewater treatment, waste management, and pollution control efforts.
• Guarantee correct management and disposal practices for construction and hazardous waste materials.
• Compile comprehensive environmental monitoring reports and maintain accurate inspection and compliance records.
• Spot potential environmental hazards promptly and enforce corrective measures.
• Liaise with internal project teams, external consultants, and client representatives to address environmental concerns.
• Provide environmental awareness training sessions for site staff and subcontractors.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least five years of practical experience in environmental management within construction or infrastructure settings.
• Familiarity and prior involvement with Ashghal projects in Qatar are strongly preferred.

Essential Skills

• In-depth understanding of Qatar’s environmental laws and ISO 14001 standards.
• Hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, compliance reporting, and site inspections during construction.
• Strong communication abilities and accurate documentation skills.
