About the Role

This position operates during evening hours and plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and safety within specialized hospital areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cleaning including regular, terminal, and isolation room sanitation in areas such as Operating Room Suites, CATH Labs, GI Labs, VARU, Pharmacy Compounding Lab, Vascular, and Labor & Delivery Suites.
  • Ensure all cleaning procedures comply strictly with established infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Handle waste management efficiently by correctly sorting and disposing of solid, chemotherapy, bio-hazard, pharmaceutical, and hot waste materials and recyclables.
  • Use Ultra Violet Light disinfection devices appropriately and safely.
  • Manage the replacement and proper disposal of containers for sharps, pharmacy waste, bio-hazard, and chemotherapy.
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls, doors, windows, furniture, equipment, and floors using proper techniques such as dust and wet mopping, paying close attention to detail including corners and kick plates.
  • Consistently use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper donning and doffing procedures to ensure safety for self and others.
  • Apply correct lifting methods to prevent injuries during duties.
  • Document tasks thoroughly, adapt to staffing shortages, and utilize the Epic system for bed and patient flow management as needed.
  • Participate actively in teamwork, performance improvement, and special projects assigned by supervisors.
  • Adhere to all Wellstar policies, standards, and the code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills while interacting with staff, patients, visitors, and family members, fostering a positive and supportive environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Some prior experience in environmental services or related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills and Certifications

  • Must be fluent in English for clear reading, writing, and understanding of instructions.
  • Completion of the departmental training program within the first 30 days of employment is required.

  • The role requires physical activities such as lifting and handling cleaning equipment safely.
