About Robe River Services

Robe River Services operates as part of the Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation (RRKAC), situated in Karratha, Pilbara region of Western Australia. RRKAC is the registered native title body corporate for the Robe River Kuruma people, custodians of nearly 16,000 square kilometres of traditional lands. The organisation aims to foster community collaboration to build independence, wellbeing, cultural identity, and maintain healthy Country for current and future generations. Activities take place across lands within the Shire of Ashburton and near Pannawonica, including the Fortescue and Jajiwurra (Robe) River regions. Staff have the chance to engage in meaningful work that honors Aboriginal culture and connection to Country.

Role Overview

The full-time, on-site Entry Level Operator (ELO) post is based in Karratha, WA. The role supports operational tasks by assisting with basic equipment operation, preparing sites, and performing general labour duties under supervision. Responsibilities consist of safely handling tools and materials, conducting regular inspections, maintaining and cleaning workspaces, and adhering to site instructions and protocols.

The ELO will operate as part of a team to ensure operational goals are met, report hazards and incidents promptly, and comply comprehensively with safety, environmental, and cultural heritage policies. The position includes on-the-job training and development opportunities to acquire new skills for career advancement within the organisation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Capability to safely learn and operate basic machinery and equipment reliably.
  • Physical ability to undertake manual labour, site upkeep, and outdoor tasks.
  • Strong safety awareness, adherence to procedures, and proactive hazard/incident reporting.
  • Good communication skills, ability to follow instructions, collaborate with diverse teammates, and respect community members.
  • Dependability, solid work ethic, good time management, and ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Willingness to engage in training and obtain entry-level certifications as needed.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills sufficient for reading instructions, recording data, and completing checklists.
  • Possession of a current driver’s licence or intention to obtain one, enabling travel to Karratha and nearby sites, is highly desirable.
  • Interest in learning about Aboriginal culture and understanding the importance of working respectfully on traditional lands.
