Job description
Role Overview
DSTA is looking for motivated engineers to help create, integrate, test, and deploy advanced technologies that support national security. The role centers on robotics and autonomous systems that can perform in demanding operational environments.
Examples of Technology Areas
- Autonomous mobility and decision-making for robotic platforms operating across air, land, and sea, improving safety and efficiency in combat and support tasks in Singapore’s challenging conditions.
- Unmanned ground vehicles that can be used on the battlefield to address logistics constraints.
- Marine robotic systems carrying specialized payloads to protect sea lines of communication.
- Small UAVs and drones that can operate across different environments and conditions, supporting last-mile intelligence and logistics.
What You Will Do
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team with experienced mentors to deepen your robotics expertise.
- Create, validate, and deliver high-impact autonomous robotics solutions.
- Design system architectures and combine leading technologies from around the world into unified operational capabilities.
- Trial and assess emerging technologies for practical deployment.
- Make sure solutions achieve strong benchmarks for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Partner with organizations, companies, and research groups in Singapore and overseas to co-develop technology.
Requirements
- A tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Prior exposure to ROS, Unity, and computer networking is beneficial.
- Ability to use programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB for control systems and algorithms is an advantage.
- Knowledge of robotics fundamentals, including kinematics, dynamics, and control systems, is advantageous.
- A curious mindset and enthusiasm for learning new capabilities and entering emerging technology areas.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, a proactive attitude, and a practical can-do approach.
- Willingness to travel for overseas assignments.
