Job description
Role Overview
Squarespace is searching for an experienced Engineering Manager to guide the Purchase, Access & Subscription Success (PASS) team. This team manages the customer purchase journey and subscription management, including the multi-product cart, secure checkout flows, subscription and billing panels, cross-sell initiatives, cancellation surveys, and invoices. Their efforts directly influence revenue by shaping how clients engage with Squarespace subscriptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a full-stack development team handling cart systems, checkout processes, subscription billing interfaces, cross-selling features, cancellation surveys, and invoicing functionalities.
- Steer the Monetization roadmap execution, encompassing secure checkout migration, introducing new product integrations, and enhancing cross-sell strategies.
- Mentor engineering staff with consistent feedback, support goal development, and provide technical direction.
- Collaborate intensively with Product, Design, Analytics, and other engineering teams to align technical projects with business objectives.
- Create and maintain a culture emphasizing technical excellence, system reliability, and continuous process improvement.
- Participate in incident management rotations and lead team responses to critical production incidents.
- Oversee operational health metrics including service level objectives (SLOs), on-call duties, and key engineering indicators like cycle time and mean time to recovery (MTTR).
Candidate Profile
- At least three years managing software engineering teams developing production-grade systems.
- Experience coordinating or partnering with both frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend (Java, PostgreSQL, distributed systems) development teams.
- Knowledge of e-commerce cart and checkout workflows, subscription management, or SaaS billing user experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills aimed at cross-team collaboration and project delivery.
- A dedication to coaching engineers and fostering a workplace culture focused on growth, inclusivity, and responsibility.
- Familiarity with PagerDuty-style on-call practices and operating under defined production SLO targets.

Additional Information
The position is based in the Dublin office with a hybrid work schedule requiring three days onsite weekly. Reporting line is to the Senior Engineering Manager of Revenue Systems. The salary range is €107,000 to €165,000 EUR, varying based on experience and qualifications. Eligible employees may receive stock options in addition to cash compensation.
