Take charge of the hardware development that underpins cutting-edge technology revolutionizing livestock farming. eShepherd, Gallagher's solar-powered, GPS-enabled virtual fencing solution for cattle, integrates hardware with web and mobile applications to allow farmers precise control over livestock movement and grazing management.

We seek an Engineering Manager based in Hamilton to lead our hardware team in shaping the future of the eShepherd product line.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a skilled group of electronics and mechanical engineers.
• Oversee engineering efforts from initial concept through production and post-launch field support.
• Bridge collaboration amongst hardware, firmware, embedded systems, product, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams.
• Translate practical insights from real-world usage into design enhancements.
• Develop robust and scalable hardware solutions adapted for challenging farming conditions.
• Influence hardware product strategy, development roadmaps, and future direction.
• Engage in hardware architecture, electronics and PCB design, sensor integration, and mechanical assembly work.
• Conduct lab and field testing of IoT hardware prototypes, including functional and reliability testing to ensure production readiness.
• Implement manufacturing design principles, failure mode analyses, rigorous design reviews, and change control processes.
• Apply continuous improvement philosophies like Learning First Product Development and A3 thinking.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team through coaching and leadership.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven engineering leadership in hardware, electronics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or IoT product development.
• A minimum of five years' experience in product development roles.
• Strong technical acumen across hardware design, testing protocols, manufacturing processes, and reliability assurance.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from various functional areas.
• Customer-centric approach with strong commercial awareness and practical problem-solving skills.
• Deep passion for nurturing engineering talent and delivering outstanding products.
