Role Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Deployment Engineering team focused on delivering Cohere's North platform into customer environments. This role demands active leadership from the front, hands-on engagement, and a strong drive to create meaningful impact by managing a team of Forward Deployed Engineers across North America with a remote-first work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
- Oversee full-cycle deployment of North platform in clients' private cloud and on-premise infrastructures.
- Assume responsibility for customer success from implementation through to delivery and ongoing support.
- Collaborate extensively with Product, Engineering, and Sales teams to refine enterprise AI delivery methodologies.
- Provide technical mentorship on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes operations, and robust enterprise deployments.
- Enhance performance optimization for OpenSearch, various databases, and Kubernetes services.
- Establish scaling strategies for GPU and CPU resource allocations.
- Create scalable processes and implement technologies to support rapid organizational growth.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 5 years' software engineering experience including demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Proven hands-on expertise in deploying large-scale enterprise software solutions.
- Strong proficiency with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Experience managing Kubernetes clusters, Helm chart deployments, and CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Highly proactive with strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently without constant guidance.
- Demonstrates a results-driven attitude, willing to actively engage and resolve challenges.
- Experienced in leading engineering teams in dynamic, high-growth environments.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in additional European languages.
- Experience working with AI/ML infrastructure components.
- Background knowledge in enterprise security and regulatory compliance standards.
