Role Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Email team, which is responsible for the core infrastructure supporting billions of personalized email sends each month, coupled with robust reporting capabilities. The team's scope spans a massively parallel platform for email personalization and delivery, REST APIs enabling user subscription management, user-facing preference management web pages, and dashboards for configuring customer email domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product teams, designers, and engineers to develop new features responding to customer needs.
• Scale email channel infrastructures to handle increased messaging volumes efficiently.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent within the team.
• Lead significant architectural decision-making and contribute hands-on coding for critical engineering challenges.
• Set the vision, objectives, and operational processes for the Email engineering team.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence among colleagues.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years in software engineering with proven success, and at least 2 years in leadership roles managing high-performing teams.
• Comfort and effectiveness working with high autonomy and accountability, including in-depth technical involvement for informed decision-making.
• Strong communication skills enabling effective decision-making regarding complex trade-offs.
• Experience designing foundational systems at scale and leading pivotal software projects aligning with organizational goals.

Preferred Technical Skills

• Professional experience with Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, JavaScript, or React is advantageous.

Compensation & Benefits

For candidates located in Ontario, the starting salary range is CAD 191,459 to CAD 338,434 annually, with an On Target Earnings (OTE) range including variable compensation from CAD 215,200 to CAD 380,400. Compensation considers various factors, including geographical location, expertise, and experience.
