Role Overview

We are searching for an Engineering Manager to oversee our Ecommerce team within the Consumer Group. This team develops and maintains our Online Booking Platform, online gift vouchers, branded applications, and an online store for easy product sales. Technologies employed include React Native, Ruby, and Java. This role combines leadership with technical involvement, ensuring the team is unblocked and thrives in their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Ecommerce team’s health, productivity, and impact within the Consumer domain.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Leads, and stakeholders to shape and align the consumer strategy.
• Balance new feature development and technical maintenance to preserve platform stability and evolve capabilities.
• Identify and resolve team bottlenecks while improving workflows and adopting best software delivery practices.
• Communicate team progress and ensure timely, quality delivery of new features.
• Lead the observability initiatives by setting service level objectives (SLOs) and equipping the team with effective monitoring tools.
• Drive a culture of quality through enforcing high code standards, automated testing, and comprehensive test coverage strategies.
• Participate hands-on by reviewing code, contributing technically to complex distributed systems design, and mentoring the team.
• Manage direct reports by conducting regular one-on-ones, providing feedback, and supporting career growth in alignment with individual aspirations.
• Attend product and engineering leadership meetings to influence engineering group decisions.
• Report to the Head of Engineering, providing regular updates on progress, strategy, and challenges.
• Enhance the company’s engineering reputation through knowledge sharing and blog contributions.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 3 years in a similar leadership role with direct people management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, especially with object-oriented design and Java.
• Proven ability to define clear team strategies, set realistic goals, and deliver consistently.
• Strong coaching skills with the ability to provide frequent and clear feedback.
• Experience building productive partnerships with product teams and other stakeholders while driving technical innovation.
• Strategic and autonomous mindset capable of thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Hands-on experience with complex distributed systems and agile team management.
• Commitment to fostering a collaborative, communicative, and motivating team culture that supports growth and excellence.
