About the Role
ConsultANZ is inviting an experienced Engineering Manager or Design & Engineering Manager to join a leading infrastructure contracting team based in Auckland. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and execution of large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, providing a unique platform to advance your technical leadership career in a top-tier environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the progression and completion of concept, tender, and detailed engineering designs for significant infrastructure projects.
- Offer expert technical guidance across multiple engineering disciplines including geotechnical, utilities, hydrology, geometrics, and structural engineering.
- Oversee design scopes, program schedules, budgets, risks, and technical deliverables to ensure project objectives are met.
- Conduct thorough design reviews to confirm designs are safe, constructible, compliant with standards, and economically viable.
- Manage the interface between design consultants, project teams, and commercial aspects including contracts and variations.
- Supervise processes related to Safety in Design, design controls, engineering management systems, and quality assurance.
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary design and engineering teams fostering professional growth.
- Contribute to the advancement, tendering, and delivery phases of major infrastructure undertakings.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
- Over 15 years of pertinent engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years in leadership positions.
- Demonstrated strong technical competency in engineering design management.
- Experience working in either large design consultancies or as part of principal contractors on major infrastructure projects.
- Expertise with projects including roads, tunnels, significant bridges, or extensive developments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of geotechnical, utilities, hydrology, geometrics, and structural disciplines.
- Proven skill in managing design consultants, contracts, contract variations, and mitigating commercial risks.
- Solid understanding of constructability, value engineering, engineering quality controls, and Safety in Design principles.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, communication abilities, leadership, and team management skills.
