Role Overview
The Computing Platform team at Wolt is creating a unified platform that supports DoorDash, Wolt, Deliveroo, and future expansion. The core focus is a code execution framework enabling product teams to assemble business logic through composable graphs. This team maintains the platform architecture, runtime, and operational stability.
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the EU-based Computing Platform team composed of five engineers responsible for this critical platform. The manager will expand the team, define the roadmap, and collaborate closely with product partners and leadership to enhance reliability, performance, and ease of platform adoption across Wolt, Deliveroo, and DoorDash.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, promoting clarity, effective execution, and a positive engineering culture.
- Direct the team's roadmap delivery focusing on performance, scalability, resource management, I/O optimization, integrations, developer experience, and observability.
- Collaborate with adjacent platform teams and product domains to evolve platform capabilities and ease onboarding.
- Make architectural and technical decisions on the Computing Platform runtime and developer APIs emphasizing reliability, simplicity, and future extensibility.
- Elevate operational standards by enhancing system reliability, debuggability, and user support for production workloads.
- Guide the Computing Platform’s next development stages by aligning priorities, leading hiring, coordinating cross-team efforts, and participating in organizational leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience managing engineering teams directly within fast-moving settings.
- At least five years background in backend, infrastructure, product, or platform engineering with proficient understanding of distributed systems, runtime platforms, or developer infrastructure.
- Capability to translate a strategic platform vision into actionable priorities and consistently executed deliverables.
- Proven skill in cross-team collaboration and partnering with engineering, product, and platform stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption.
- Strong dedication to people leadership, adept at coaching engineers, simplifying goals, and cultivating a healthy, high-performing team environment.
- Commitment to engineering excellence, reliability, and operational practices, with ability to manage production issues through methodical and composed approaches.
