Job description
Overview
We are looking for a skilled Engineering Manager to oversee maintenance, reliability, asset management, contractor supervision, and continuous improvements at our Ice Cream production facility located in East Tamaki, Auckland. This role requires a hands-on leader who is solutions-oriented and capable of managing daily maintenance tasks alongside long-term safety, compliance, and performance advancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency.
- Develop and manage asset management strategies, ensure availability of critical spare parts, conduct root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement projects.
- Supervise contractors, suppliers, service agreements, control engineering budgets, and manage capital expenditure projects.
- Guarantee that all engineering operations comply with quality standards, food safety regulations, health and safety policies, environmental requirements, and other relevant regulatory mandates.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the engineering team while collaborating closely with production, quality assurance, and site management teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering trade certification, relevant technical qualification, or an engineering degree is essential.
- At least five years of experience in engineering or maintenance management roles.
- Expertise in preventive maintenance, asset management, and reliability engineering.
- Prior experience within food production, dairy, ice cream, FMCG, or other regulated manufacturing settings is highly advantageous.
- Proven skills in managing contractors, budgeting, compliance adherence, effective communication, and people management.
