Engineering Director

About the Role

The Engineering Director is responsible for guiding the engineering vision, overseeing technical operations and projects, and leading engineering teams to deliver quality results safely and efficiently.

Key Duties

• Formulate and execute comprehensive engineering strategies, standards, and plans.
• Drive engineering projects from inception through to successful completion.
• Lead and manage engineering teams, resources, budgets, and prioritize technical efforts.
• Supervise all phases of design, development, testing, installation, and commissioning processes.
• Evaluate engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and relevant technical documentation.
• Track project timelines, costs, quality standards, and technical outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams.
• Ensure strict adherence to engineering standards, safety protocols, and mandatory regulatory requirements.
• Address and resolve engineering, technical, and operational challenges promptly.
• Manage engineering equipment, materials, technology, and related resources to optimize performance.
• Identify and handle engineering risks, scope adjustments, and evolving technical needs.
• Promote innovation, operational efficiency, cost savings, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, budget plans, forecasts, and periodic management updates.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development to engineering staff.
• Offer expert technical guidance and strategic input to senior management for informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
• Demonstrate extensive experience in engineering leadership or senior management roles.
• Solid understanding of engineering design methodologies, project management principles, and operational technicalities.
• Experience overseeing engineering teams, managing projects, controlling budgets, and allocating resources efficiently.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering codes, standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong leadership presence coupled with effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Familiarity with engineering software tools, project management platforms, and technical systems integration.
• Awareness of commercial, financial, and risk management aspects relevant to engineering projects.
• Capability to juggle multiple concurrent projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Professional engineering certifications or chartered engineer status are beneficial.
• Experience working within UAE or GCC engineering sectors is a plus.
