The manufacturing facility is located in Oragadam, Kanchipuram, spanning 400 acres, with significant investments to support production excellence. Role Overview
We seek a proactive and skilled Engineer to oversee Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) and Medium Duty Truck (MDT) chassis assembly along with End of Line (EOL) operations at the Oragadam plant. This role demands responsibility for meeting production objectives, ensuring first-time-right quality standards, managing shop floor manpower, and promoting continuous improvement throughout the chassis and EOL manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete production and quality process for HDT and MDT chassis and EOL operations.
- Achieve daily and monthly production goals in chassis assembly and EOL workflows.
- Ensure that vehicles adhere to the highest quality and operational standards, maintaining targeted First Time Through (FTT) rollouts.
- Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems including IATF, OHSAS, and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Uphold 5S workplace organization and discipline on the shop floor consistently.
- Plan, allocate, and manage manpower effectively for chassis and EOL operations.
- Provide training and guidance to blue-collar shop floor workers to optimize performance.
- Maximize utilization of human resources and equipment for enhanced productivity.
- Schedule and carry out maintenance of production tools and machinery as per guidelines.
- Incorporate innovative techniques to boost productivity and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen activities, to enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee vehicle clearance within defined throughput times and manage electrical fault resolution during EOL processes.
- Ensure smooth handover of vehicles with minimal dwell time at EOL.
- Apply expertise in scheduling and sequencing for optimized chassis and EOL production processes.
- Utilize Manufacturing Execution Systems (such as SAP or MES) to monitor production against plans and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Generate daily production reports and escalate critical issues to senior management promptly.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Practical experience in assembly and EOL operations of HDT and MDT chassis.
- Thorough understanding of chassis components, sub-assemblies, and associated equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting problems within chassis and EOL processes.
- Familiarity with quality and operational standards including IATF, OHSAS, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to effectively apply scheduling and sequencing techniques in manufacturing.
- Experience working with shop floor digital systems like SAP and MES.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve shop floor challenges.
