Engineer - Design

Overview

The Design Engineer role focuses on developing and enhancing product designs to ensure they are efficient, producible, and cost-efficient, aligning with quality standards and client requirements while driving continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive engineering designs, drawings, and specifications tailored to processes.
• Coordinate with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective.
• Conduct design calculations, simulations, and prototype evaluations to validate concepts.
• Refine existing product designs to boost manufacturability, decrease costs, and improve performance.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and internal policies.
• Generate detailed technical documentation, such as bills of materials, assembly guides, and maintenance manuals.
• Engage in design reviews, production testing, and resolving design-related issues.
• Recommend process and design innovations to enhance operational efficiency.
• Work directly with clients and project teams to incorporate feedback and adjust designs accordingly.
• Stay informed on the latest manufacturing technologies, design software, and best practices.

Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) Duties

• Adhere strictly to QHSE standards, policies, and procedures applicable to assigned tasks.
• Participate proactively in QHSE meetings and fulfill all mandatory safety inductions and training sessions.
• Identify, report, and where feasible, rectify hazardous conditions within scope.
• Comply with QHSE officer guidance and properly use personal protective equipment and emergency tools.
• Contribute to fostering a safe workplace culture and encourage safety-minded behaviour among colleagues.
• Refer to OHSMS Manual Section 4.4.1 for detailed individual QHSE roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Degree or diploma in engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or related fields.

Technical Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of low-voltage (LV) switchgear products and their practical applications.
• Well-versed in designing advanced control and protection logics within LV switchboards.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and/or EPLAN, for developing and verifying general arrangement drawings, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.

Experience

• 7 to 8 years of experience in designing intricate LV switchboards, including Integrated Motor Control Systems (IMCS) and communication setups using modern digital numerical protection relays.
• Prior involvement in Oil & Gas industry projects is advantageous.
• Preferred experience with Eaton product lines.
