Location & Environment

The position is based at HMP & YOI Parc in Bridgend, Wales, which houses 1800 male adult prisoners and young offenders in a secure and modern facility.

Role Overview

The role involves full-time, permanent electrical maintenance duties within the prison, focusing on ensuring safety and operational effectiveness of all electrical assets and services. The work is conducted within the Facility Management team to align with operational and maintenance needs.

Key Duties

• Conduct planned and reactive electrical maintenance according to established protocols to ensure safety and asset integrity.
• Respond promptly to operational breakdowns and damages, repairing and restoring functionality effectively and safely.
• Complete detailed maintenance reports and develop technical procedures for building maintenance activities.
• Support training and development initiatives for fellow maintenance and technical staff.
• Perform inspections and repairs on heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical, and security systems.
• Diagnose issues on mechanical and electrical systems and implement resolutions.
• Follow technical drawings and maintenance manuals to execute routine and emergency maintenance.
• Assist in maintaining and improving maintenance procedures, risk assessments, and documentation.
• Collaborate with maintenance team members of varying skill levels to enhance cross-functional capabilities.
• Participate in emergency call out rotations and provide coverage during staff absences.
• Contribute to project and improvement work to optimize site operations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant holds a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering with substantial proven experience as an electrician. Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic settings, strong organizational and communication proficiencies, and prior background in fast-paced environments are essential.

Compensation & Benefits

An annual salary of 33,471.71 is offered along with a call-out allowance comprising 100 standby, 85 call-out fee, and 20 per hour beyond four hours of work during call-outs.
