Job description
Overview
This role involves leading multiple electrical hardware engineering teams through the entire product design and development lifecycle. It demands adherence to technology standards while fostering innovation and integrating cutting-edge technologies within complex products and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage several project teams composed of internal engineers and external partners responsible for end-to-end electrical hardware design and development of sophisticated products and solutions.
- Execute part qualification via product quality plans, equipment inspections, factory witness tests, and validation of manufacturing processes.
- Expand and maintain relationships with both internal departments and outsourced partners in electrical hardware design efforts.
- Critically assess designs and project progress for conformity with company guidelines, providing actionable feedback to enhance quality.
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve product output, quality, and reduce delivery costs.
- Offer domain expertise and leadership across projects and programs involving electrical/electronic hardware and platforms.
- Develop cost estimations, business justifications, and secure necessary approvals and resources for hardware engineering initiatives.
- Produce professional reporting and actively support the achievement of operational and strategic objectives.
- Drive adoption and integration of new technologies to improve hardware design capabilities.
- Mentor and guide less experienced personnel to cultivate technical excellence and innovation within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- Between 7 to 10 years of experience, preferably with electrical design, software tools, hardware architecture, or related disciplines.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python.
- Solid foundation in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Experience with debugging, hardware architecture, schematic capture, and simulations.
- Familiarity with Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), printed circuit board design, and oscilloscopes.
- Knowledge of system design, mechanical engineering fundamentals, new product development processes, and physics principles.
- Use of MATLAB for hardware simulation and analysis.
