Role Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrical Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimations for electrical projects in commercial and industrial settings. These estimates are drawn from reviewing plans, site evaluations, and client requirements. The role includes creating estimates for unique projects often without formal drawings, requiring onsite measurements and direct customer interaction to define costs and scope. The Electrical Estimator contributes to budgeting accuracy and pricing strategies while cultivating relationships with vendors to secure competitive and dependable pricing.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates and quotes for industrial electrical tasks, including special projects lacking formal drawings by utilizing site visits, measurements, photos, and direct client input.
• Examine existing electrical installations during site assessments.
• Create detailed scopes of electrical work and obtain client approval to align project objectives.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, operations, and estimating teams on upgrades, maintenance, and design-build projects.
• Identify when engineering consultation is necessary and coordinate with internal or external resources.
• Work with designers and engineers to acquire required specifications and technical data for accurate costing.
• Accurately estimate costs for power distribution, lighting, controls, conduits, wiring, and equipment installation.
• Request and analyze supplier, vendor, and subcontractor pricing to produce competitive estimates.
• Prepare detailed documentation including scope, pricing, assumptions, and supportive information for proposals and RFQs.
• Generate preliminary Bills of Materials, Work Breakdown Structures, and project handoff documents upon award.
• Assist in pricing and preparing change orders and scope updates during project execution.
• Maintain solid partnerships with vendors, distributors, and industry contacts to enhance estimation precision and budgeting.

Candidate Profile

We seek a seasoned Electrical Estimator adept in commercial and industrial environments who is proactive and excels at managing multiple priorities efficiently. Comfortable handling incomplete project data, the candidate must be capable of site assessment and devising pragmatic pricing strategies even without formal drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, construction standards, and relevant codes is essential. Excellent communication, judgment, organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and exceptional client service are expected.

Essential Qualifications

• At least seven years' experience estimating electrical projects in commercial and industrial construction, with projects typically valued between $50,000 and $2 million.
• Proficiency in developing estimates for service work, tenant improvements, and unique projects leveraging site inspections and client needs in the absence of formal documentation.
• Understanding of both public and private sector procurement, including bid processes, tender submissions, contract terms, and compliance.
• Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification is advantageous.
• Familiarity with estimating software, particularly Accubid, preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Competent with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.

Compensation and Benefits

The company offers a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000 annually, adjusted based on qualifications and market factors.
