Electrical Estimator

Overview

Kiernan Engineering is seeking a seasoned Electrical Estimator to calculate estimated costs for various electrical installation projects spanning industrial and residential sectors. This role requires accurately forecasting project durations, researching current market prices for materials and equipment, and collaborating with clients to precisely define project scope. Continuous refinement of cost-estimating methods to minimize discrepancies between projected and actual expenses is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine blueprints to determine required wire lengths and optimal outlet positions compliant with electrical codes.
• Estimate quantities, types, and costs of materials and fixtures necessary for each electrical undertaking.
• Assess project profitability to aid management in strategic bidding decisions.
• Propose actionable strategies to enhance profitability of electrical projects.
• Prepare and submit competitive bids following established protocols.
• Maintain and regularly update cost databases to reflect changing material and labor expenses accurately.
• Analyze labor and material expenses to decide whether to in-house fabricate electrical components or outsource their construction.

Candidate Requirements

• Completion of a postsecondary electrician training program is mandatory.
• Additional qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Management, or similar fields are beneficial.
• Ability to interpret and analyze blueprints proficiently.
• Strong analytical thinking and adept problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
