Electrical Estimator - ICI Construction

About the Role

Black & McDonald’s Mechanical & Electrical team focused on Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) construction is expanding. We are seeking a dedicated, cooperative professional eager to join an innovative and hardworking team as an Electrical Estimator. This position is based in Scarborough, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates encompassing materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects using contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
• Provide guidance on tender processes, review and analyze tenders, and offer recommendations regarding tender awards.
• Engage in site assessments, tender evaluations, hand-offs, project closures, and operational or sector meetings.
• Maintain and update a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with engineers, architects, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors to maintain work continuity and competitive advantage.

Educational & Professional Background

• Completion of a program specializing in electrical estimating or construction.
• Several years of practical experience in the electrical construction sector.
• Minimum of five years experience estimating electrical ICI construction jobs or P3 projects.

Skill Set and Abilities

• Expertise in finalizing project cost estimates.
• Ability to interpret electrical project designs accurately.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling, planning, and overall execution processes.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills paired with a self-driven attitude and deadline orientation.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) and Accubid estimating software.

Compensation and Additional Information

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000, with the exact starting salary based on qualifications including education and experience.
