Electrical Engineer

About the Role

RED, a division of Tractebel, is a growing international M&E consultancy recognized for its expertise in low energy design. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Sydney office. The successful candidate will manage both small and large projects, playing a client-facing role through the entire lifecycle of engineering projects. Experience in data centre engineering is essential, with additional exposure to commercial, retail, hotel, and leisure sectors considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage small-scale engineering projects, including research, design, coordination, and monitoring of mechanical or electrical systems and installations.
• Design and specify control systems, instrumentation, and operational processes for building engineering services.
• Conduct surveys, testing, and reporting on existing electrical and mechanical installations.
• Ensure construction, manufacturing, installation, and operational verifications comply with functional specifications and client requirements.
• Represent RED at technical meetings involving clients, professional teams, and contractors.
• Prepare amendments to specifications using Word or Excel.
• Ensure all engineering calculations and design drawings adhere to rigorous industry and legal standards.
• Validate contributions from Intermediate and Graduate Engineers involved in design processes.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of key Health and Safety legislation and issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Competency in IT-based calculation and spreadsheet applications.
• Good knowledge of British Standards (BS) relevant to electrical and mechanical building services.
• Ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively and work under deadlines.
• Demonstrated managerial capabilities.
• Commitment to ethical practices in line with company Ethics Charter and Guidelines.
• Experience in consultancy or construction sectors is preferred.
• Familiarity with global consultancy business operations and international work environments.

Additional Information

The role requires hands-on involvement with building services consultancy work, ideally from candidates already working in this field.

Salary: AUD 90,000 per year.
