Role Overview
This position is for an Electrical Engineer within the MEP team of the Buildings sector, stationed in Markham, Ontario. The team is expanding and offers opportunities across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Work independently under the Electrical Principal, managing projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision.
- Lead design processes and mentor junior design staff across all project stages.
- Ensure engineering quality standards are met on assigned projects.
- Develop and oversee electrical design concepts ensuring appropriate application and execution.
- Review design submissions for specifications, reports, code compliance, submittals, equipment choices, and drawings.
- Implement risk management practices for all projects.
- Guide the design team through schematic design, design development, tender, and construction documentation phases while respecting project timelines and budgets.
- Manage construction aspects including shop drawing reviews, progress drawing assessments, quotation evaluations, change notices, and site visits.
- Compose technical documents and reports related to electrical systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of four years’ experience in electrical engineering consulting.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license from the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is mandatory.
- Experience across multiple sectors such as healthcare, residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial electrical projects.
- Proven capability to lead and manage new construction, renovation, and electrical system upgrade initiatives.
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, as well as applicable CAN-ULC and CSA standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and electrical design software.
- Experience with AutoCAD is required; familiarity with REVIT MEP is preferred.
Compensation and Opportunities
The salary range for this full-time position falls between $80,000 and $100,000 annually, determined based on candidates’ skills, experience, certifications, and location.
