- Critically evaluate electrical and instrumentation drawings, specifications, cable and single-line diagrams, schematics, network designs, and vendor documents for constructability and compliance.
- Offer hands-on engineering and technical support to E&I teams including supervisors, electricians, subcontractors, and commissioning staff.
- Prepare and maintain construction work packages, installation methodologies, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), records, and commissioning documentation.
- Coordinate E&I activities alongside civil, structural, mechanical, piping, gas turbine, substation, commissioning, and vendor teams.
- Manage communication and resolution of RFIs, technical queries, field changes, NCRs, and as-built documentation.
- Assist in planning and scheduling operations, including material forecasting, productivity monitoring, progress measurement, and labour/plant allocation.
- Monitor financial aspects such as package costs, progress claims, contractual variations, and forecast budgets.
- Support procurement processes, including technical requisitions, bid evaluations, vendor liaison, documentation reviews, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate engineers by providing technical guidance.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related engineering fields.
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer delivering electrical and instrumentation construction packages within power generation, mining, oil and gas, energy or heavy industry sectors.
- Hands-on site experience managing E&I installations across planning, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning stages.
- Proficiency interpreting single-line and loop diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, termination drawings, network architecture, and vendor documents.
- Expertise preparing work packs, methodologies, ITPs, ITRs, test records, RFIs, technical queries, NCRs, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, DC and UPS systems, earthing and power cabling.
- Experience with field instrumentation tasks such as calibration, loop checking, and control system interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams including supervisors, subcontractors, technicians, vendors, and testing providers.
- Familiarity with planning tools, progress measurement techniques, productivity analysis, subcontract administration, variations handling, and progress claims.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian electrical safety legislation, construction standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Must have legal right to work in Australia.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working on gas-fired power generation or power station construction projects.
- Familiarity with gas turbine generator packages and associated electrical and control system interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with 33 kV electrical systems, power transformers, switchgear, protection relays, HV cabling, earthing, and energisation.
- Knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, ICMS, SIS and industrial communication networks.
- Exposure to hazardous-area electrical installation, inspection, or dossier documentation.
- Experience supporting Queensland HV audits and electrical installation certification procedures.
- Understanding of functional safety and SIS validation requirements.
- FAT coordination and management of international and Australian equipment vendors.
- Current Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) registration or eligibility and openness to obtaining it.
Additional Information
