Role Overview
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and continuously enhancing the EHS Management System (EHSMS). This position ensures that all EHS documentation, platforms, and data are well-maintained, up-to-date, and effectively support organizational compliance and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the EHS Manager with daily administration and upkeep of the EHS Management System, including maintenance of policies, standards, procedures, forms, and templates with proper version control and accuracy.
- Manage documentation control processes, ensuring consistent naming, approval workflows, restricted access, and maintenance of essential records like training, audits, inspections, and incident reports to comply with internal and regulatory standards.
- Oversee EHS digital platforms such as SharePoint, ensuring logical structure, accurate content, and user-friendly access for internal and external users while supporting continuous digital platform improvement alongside IT and leadership.
- Gather, consolidate, and manage EHS performance data to create and maintain safety dashboards displaying indicators, audit trends, and incident data; ensure data integrity and provide analytical insights for management.
- Coordinate internal and external EHS communications such as safety alerts, bulletins, and initiatives, ensuring clear, consistent messaging aligned with company standards.
- Prepare regular EHS reports and presentations for leadership, track action items, and support management review meetings with comprehensive data and documentation.
- Identify areas to enhance EHSMS usability, data visibility, communication flow, and facilitate the implementation of new tools or reporting processes; assist with audit preparations by supplying accurate documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Two to five years of professional experience in an EHS, safety, or systems support capacity.
- Knowledge and familiarity with EHS Management Systems and experience managing documentation and digital platforms such as SharePoint.
- Background in construction, project management, or industrial environments with exposure to standards like ISO 14001 and ISO45001.
- Experience working with data analysis, dashboards, and reporting tools.
