Position Overview

We seek an experienced EHS Safety Officer to oversee and enhance the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program within a large warehouse and distribution facility that includes vehicle maintenance and workshop areas. This role demands active field engagement to identify and mitigate operational hazards, ensure adherence to safety standards, prevent incidents, and foster a positive safety culture across warehouse, logistics, and maintenance operations. The officer will collaborate closely with various departments including operations, logistics, maintenance, facilities, HR, contractors, and the wider EHS team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, uphold, and continuously develop EHS policies, procedures, and safe work systems tailored for the site.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSA/JHA), hazard recognition, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Carry out regular safety inspections and audits on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
  • Maintain visible and proactive presence in warehouse, distribution, and workshop work areas.
  • Identify unsafe practices or conditions promptly and enforce corrective measures.
  • Halt any unsafe operations posing immediate danger.
  • Supervise safety concerning material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet racks, plus warehouse traffic and storage conditions.
  • Assess and control risks in vehicle maintenance and workshop activities, including welding, grinding, painting, and handling hazardous tools and materials.
  • Implement and oversee Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures along with Permit-to-Work systems for critical tasks like hot work, confined spaces, and electrical isolation.
  • Manage incident reporting, investigations, root-cause analyses, and ensure corrective actions are completed and tracked.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, data, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee occupational health concerns such as noise, dust, chemicals, manual handling, and ergonomic risks, including medical fitness and First Aid readiness.
  • Manage environmental responsibilities including waste segregation, spill control, and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness including drills for fire, chemical spills, and medical incidents.
  • Deliver safety training programs, inductions, and awareness sessions; support competency development and coaching for operational teams.
  • Monitor contractor safety pre-qualification, induction, and adherence to site safety protocols.
  • Support regulatory audits, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 compliance activities, and prepare management reports on EHS performance.

Candidate Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of pertinent experience in EHS, HSE, or safety roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or similarly relevant field.
  • Mandatory possession of a valid Kawader License.
  • Certified in OSHA, NEBOSH IGC/NEBOSH, ISO 45001, or related EHS qualifications.
  • Proven skills in risk assessments, job safety analyses, and hazard identification.
  • Experience with safety protocols in warehouse, logistics, material handling, or workshop settings.
  • Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Permit-to-Work systems.
  • Competence in investigating incidents and ensuring corrective follow-ups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English languages.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Capacity to work well in multicultural operational environments.
  • Problem-solving orientation with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple safety initiatives while maintaining a solid presence onsite.
