Job description

Overview

Following recent expansion and acquisition by a prominent Belgian global logistics group, the client is growing its Health & Safety team. This role involves working in a leading company specializing in Hazardous Transport & Logistics, focusing on enhancing Health & Safety expertise across several specialized sectors such as ADR for road tankers and containers, container depot operations, the petroleum sector including aviation and retail, waste management, emergency response, and chemical handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing thorough site inspections
  • Supporting risk assessment processes
  • Assisting management with compliance activities
  • Maintaining safety performance records and reports
  • Investigating incidents and accidents
  • Ensuring compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) standards
  • Participating in internal and external audits
  • Monitoring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Tracking and reporting on the organization’s carbon footprint
  • Contributing to and conducting training sessions
  • Engaging in emergency response drills and exercises
  • Reporting safety and quality risks or improvement opportunities to supervisors and management
  • Coordinating Health & Safety Committees company-wide
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Experience

  • Holder of a certificate, diploma, or degree in Health and Safety or possessing a minimum of five years relevant experience
  • Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 22000 is preferred
  • Demonstrable experience in auditing processes
  • Fluency in English both oral and written is mandatory
  • Background in emergency or incident response is advantageous
  • Prior experience in the Transport & Logistics sector is highly desirable
