Job description
Position Overview
Shire Healthcare seeks to appoint an Educational Psychologist to serve children and young people aged 5 to 25 in the West Yorkshire region. This full-time, permanent role involves delivering psychological and educational assessments as well as providing consultations and interventions tailored for individuals experiencing social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH), developmental trauma, neurodiversity, and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological and educational assessments for young people.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, educational institutions, and residential teams.
- Contribute expertise in Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Education, Health, and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
- Deliver staff training and support broader service development within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience and Skills Required
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Educational Psychologist.
- Holder of a professional qualification in Educational Psychology qualified for HCPC registration.
- Between two and five years of post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience supporting SEMH, neurodiversity, and SEND populations.
- Strong skills in assessment, consultation, and report writing.
- Familiarity with EHCPs/EHCNAs and experience working within multidisciplinary settings.
- Experience in educational environments is essential; residential experience is advantageous.
Working Conditions and Remuneration
This is a term-time role with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week. The salary ranges from 50,165 to 55,424 annually based on the actual term-time arrangement. The equivalent full-time salary would be 54,495 to 60,208 for comparative purposes.
