Role Overview
This position supports the programme team in executing projects and programmes in alignment with British Council standards and guidelines. Responsibilities include administrative, financial, and operational support across multiple projects, ensuring compliance and timely delivery. The role also involves managing relationships with partners, vendors, clients, and stakeholders, as well as contributing to business development planning and supporting diversity mainstreaming initiatives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Hold vendors and suppliers accountable for their service delivery.
- Independently manage workload to meet project and programme deadlines.
- Contribute positively to the programme team to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Plan, report, and forecast project financials to managers and heads of programme delivery.
- Oversee smaller project budgets and maintain accurate financial records consistent with audit requirements.
- Manage vendor relations ensuring timely payment processing via SAP Finance in accordance with British Council policies.
- Keep project and programme data up-to-date, ensuring quality and basic analysis of monitoring data.
- Prepare progress reports meeting funders' specifications.
- Support compliance activities such as due diligence, records management, and data storage.
- Administer grants processes including selection and evaluation.
- Handle procurement adhering to British Council’s standards and assist in managing events and training within programmes.
- Assist with the implementation and delivery of diversity mainstreaming action plans.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Support business development activities as required.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within programmes and organisational culture.
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting programme or project delivery roles.
- Familiarity with administrative and financial operations.
- Basic understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts contributing to project management effectiveness.
- Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree related to art or education fields.
Language Skills
English proficiency in both written and verbal communication is mandatory as British Council systems operate globally in English. Arabic language skills are an advantage.
Additional Information
- This role is classified as British Council Grade 4 / H within Advisory, Policy and Expertise.
- It is a fixed-term contract lasting two years based in Qatar.
- The monthly gross salary ranges between 5,733 and 7,165 QAR.
- Applicants should verify their eligibility to live and work in Qatar; visa support is discretionary and limited.
- Some travel and occasional out-of-hours work will be necessary.
- Employment is contingent on annual background checks appropriate to the role.
