Position Overview
SyBridge Technologies is seeking an experienced EDM Operator to join their manufacturing and tooling department in Galway, Ireland. This full-time, onsite role involves setting up and operating Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to fabricate high-precision mould and tooling parts in line with engineering blueprints and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and run EDM machines to produce precision moulds and tooling components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specs, and related documentation accurately.
- Configure machine settings, including electrodes, work offsets, and machining parameters.
- Ensure components meet exact measurements, tolerances, and surface finish criteria.
- Perform inspections on finished parts using precision instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Measure in millimetres and micrometres as required.
- Continuously monitor machining to maintain quality and dimensional integrity, adjusting as needed.
- Identify and resolve machining or quality issues during production.
- Conduct routine EDM machine cleaning, upkeep, and basic troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with toolmakers, CNC machinists, engineers, and other manufacturing staff.
- Keep thorough production and inspection documentation.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the toolroom and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Background in working with plastic injection moulds, tooling, complex components, and precise tolerances in a high-accuracy manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with CNC or other precision machining techniques.
- Desirable: Recognized apprenticeship or technical certification in toolmaking, engineering, machining, or related fields.
- Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and practical problem-solving.
- Dependable, able to meet production deadlines both independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills and eagerness to expand technical knowledge.

- Promptly report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or concerns.
- Maintain a tidy, secure, and safe workspace continuously.
