Role Overview

We are seeking skilled Earthing and Bonding Engineers to join our Electrical Delivery team remotely from Hobart, Tasmania. This role involves contributing your expertise in earthing and bonding across major projects in renewable energy, power networks, transport, resources, and critical infrastructure. You will work alongside public utilities, government bodies, private developers, and industrial operators, gaining exposure to diverse sectors including water, energy, resources, environment, property, buildings, and transportation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead earthing, bonding, and related engineering projects from initial concept through construction and commissioning phases.
• Create and review design drawings, technical documentation, inspection and testing plans, and other project deliverables.
• Oversee quality and design of work packages, engage with client engineers through design reviews, resolve technical issues, and provide progress updates to achieve strong engineering and commercial outcomes.
• Develop technical resources, deliver training, and mentor junior engineers to enhance team capability.
• Estimate costs and prepare tender submissions and proposals relating to electrical engineering scopes.
• Collaborate with colleagues across various GHD offices for successful project pursuits and execution.
• Conduct site inspections and produce reports supporting proposals, design accuracy, and construction activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status or active progress towards it is essential.
• Extensive experience in detailed design for transmission and distribution infrastructure, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables, along with preparing associated drawings, reports, and specifications.
• At least five years of specialized experience in earthing and bonding design, electrolysis assessment, lightning protection design, electromagnetic field studies, and electromagnetic compatibility across sectors such as energy, resources, transportation, and buildings.
• Strong understanding of the project development life cycle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative working style with readiness to share knowledge, mentor others, and build team capabilities.
• Ability to operate independently, seek input appropriately, and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Proven record in preparing or leading successful proposals and marketing efforts.
• Sound judgement supported by strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
• Effective time and commercial management skills to oversee multiple projects within budget while maintaining client relationships.
