About the Role

Join Curtin University’s Early Childhood Centre as an Early Childhood Educator and contribute to delivering enriching, inclusive learning experiences that promote the growth and wellbeing of young children. This fixed-term appointment is until 31 December 2027, offering full-time and part-time positions within a supportive and high-quality learning environment.

As an educator, you will utilize the Early Years Learning Framework alongside the Centre Curriculum Guide to design and assess engaging educational programs. You will apply play-based and individualized learning techniques, foster positive relationships with children, their families, and colleagues, and support a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and evaluate learning activities using the Early Years Learning Framework and Centre Curriculum Guide.
  • Implement inclusive strategies ensuring all children’s needs are met and take responsibility for maintaining the learning environment as the "third teacher."
  • Collaborate effectively within the team to manage centre operations, adhere to schedules, and maintain accurate records as per centre policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and maintain safety and behavioral protocols appropriate for various age groups.
  • Develop and sustain positive connections with children, families, and coworkers, support upkeep through cleaning and tidying duties, and uphold confidentiality.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Children’s Services or an equivalent qualification, or actively working towards obtaining one.
  • Proven capability to meet objectives effectively and timely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact positively with children, families, and team members.
  • Experience in fostering a healthy, safe, inclusive learning environment compliant with National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized and group learning experiences tailored to children's interests and developmental levels.
  • Flexible and collaborative mindset, with readiness to support all age groups at the centre.

Additional Role Requirements

  • Applicants must hold valid work rights in Australia for the duration of the contract.
  • Successful candidates must clear National Police Checks, background, and reference verifications according to Curtin University’s standards.
  • Possession of and ability to maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check is mandatory.
  • The role requires willingness to work shifts within operational hours from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Compensation

This continuous position offers an annual salary ranging from $75,646 to $79,666 (ELC3 level), supplemented with 17% superannuation contributions.
