Job description
Role Overview
The British International School Abu Dhabi seeks a Student Support Assistant to join their EAL (English as an Additional Language) Team. This role offers support within a collaborative and successful team, contributing to the progress and wellbeing of EAL learners. The position involves direct work with students, adapting teaching resources, and collaborating closely with educators and leadership staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individual students and small groups, customizing materials and strategies to suit diverse learning needs.
- Track and maintain records of student progress and involvement through accurate documentation.
- Support the implementation and periodic review of Individual EAL Plans and associated support programs.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, encouraging student confidence, independence, and communication skills.
- Engage actively with the wider school community by attending meetings and collaborating within the EAL team to reinforce home-school communication.
Candidate Requirements
- Proficiency in English at a fluent level is essential to effectively communicate with students and staff.
- Fluency in an additional language is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude for collaborative teamwork within an educational environment.
