Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk is the brand's largest hotel in the Middle East, featuring 594 luxurious rooms including 68 suites and 96 serviced apartments. Located in central Dubai, this hotel offers various trendy dining options such as a contemporary Asian restaurant, a Gastro Pub, a French Brasserie, and a Pool Bar & Lounge, creating a vibrant scene for guests and locals. Amenities include a relaxing Sofitel Spa by L’Occitane, outdoor pools with private cabanas, and a modern fitness center. Business travelers benefit from 1,589 square meters of meeting space, including a state-of-the-art ballroom for prestigious events. Situated as part of the Wafi Mall extension and near Raffles Dubai, the hotel combines modern design with ancient Egyptian elements unique to its location.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all front office staff activities to ensure guests receive timely, courteous service and personalized attention.
- Support the Front Office Manager in fulfilling managerial tasks.
- Ensure VIPs and repeat guests receive dedicated recognition and special care.
- Manage room availability, classification, room counts, and rate categories accurately.
- Optimize occupancy, revenue, and average room rate while maintaining high-quality service standards.
- Collaborate with Housekeeping to uphold room appearance and adhere to the "Room Ready on Arrival" policy.
- Understand and enforce credit policies, coordinating with Finance to ensure compliance.
- Be knowledgeable about system recovery processes.
- Analyze computer-generated reports and compile key statistics related to front office operations.
- Authorize room upgrades and special amenities in the manager’s absence.
- Foster strong interdepartmental communication to guarantee smooth guest experiences.
- Regularly inspect the lobby, reception, cashier’s desk, and randomly check VIP rooms to ensure cleanliness and order.
- Create effective work and vacation schedules for front office personnel based on occupancy projections and group bookings.
- Maintain staff standards concerning conduct, dress code, hygiene, and appearance.
- Coordinate with HR on staff performance and development.
- Assist Finance with preparing and managing the front office department budget.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety policies and encourage staff adherence.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in Opera Property Management System and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiar with local culture and prior work experience in the region.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
