Save the Children International is seeking a dedicated Driver for its operations in Kyegegwa, Uganda. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, goods, and documents. Overview
The Driver will be responsible for operating Save the Children vehicles, ensuring timely and secure deliveries. This role may also involve supporting emergency response efforts during humanitarian crises.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting people, documents, and goods to designated locations safely and punctually, adhering to organizational policies.
- Maintaining vehicles in excellent mechanical condition and ensuring their security.
- Conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections, including checks on oil, water, brakes, and other essential components, and reporting any necessary servicing.
- Maintaining accurate mileage logs and submitting monthly reports, including vehicle Profleet data.
- Ensuring that vehicle licenses and insurance are current and renewed promptly.
- Verifying that all vehicle tools and safety equipment, such as spare tires, jacks, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers, are present and in good working order.
- Reporting any vehicle damage or defects to the supervisor immediately.
- Assisting staff and visitors with transportation-related needs and troubleshooting minor vehicle issues.
- Upholding professional conduct and representing Save the Children positively.
- Adhering strictly to all traffic laws and regulations, and advising on potential breaches.
- Complying with Save the Children's Child Protection Code of Conduct, Security Guidelines, Chronic Illness Policy, and ethical principles.
Additional Responsibilities

- Demonstrating patience, strong organizational skills, and effective time management while multitasking.
- Fostering positive working relationships and contributing effectively as a team member.
- Willingness to travel and work in challenging environments, including remote areas, under demanding conditions.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Word and Excel, for documentation.
- Availability to work extended hours during humanitarian response periods.
- High cultural awareness and ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent capacity for planning and time management.
- Undertaking other assigned duties as required.
