Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Draughtsperson to join our Tauranga team. This role extends beyond traditional drafting duties, requiring the transformation of initial concepts into feasible, production-ready designs for fabrication and installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create precise and practical 3D models, detailed drawings, and workshop-ready shop drawings.
- Convert concepts involving structural steel, pipework, and fabricated products into tangible design documents suitable for construction.
- Collaborate closely with workshop and site personnel to ensure designs are feasible, safe, efficient, and maintainable.
- Utilize informed judgement regarding material selection, fabrication procedures, and buildability for stainless and carbon steel projects.
- Assist in design enhancements and participate in product development initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical draughting, 3D modelling, or design within fabrication, structural steel, pipework, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of Design for Manufacture principles, document revision control, fabrication detailing, weld symbology, and practical workshop needs.
- Experience with stainless and carbon steel materials and an awareness of build and installation considerations.
- Capability to support mechanical design activities, including conducting basic design calculations.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, preferably Autodesk Inventor; familiarity with AutoCAD and Bluebeam is advantageous.
