Role Overview
As a Drainage Maintenance Officer based at the Operations Centre in Altona, you will play a vital role within the Civil Maintenance team ensuring the municipality's drainage infrastructure remains safe, functional, and reliable. This permanently full-time, hands-on position involves both proactive and reactive drain cleaning and maintenance activities aimed at minimizing flood risk and maintaining essential infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Conduct proactive and reactive drain cleaning operations.
- Operate trucks, plant machinery, and specialized drainage equipment safely.
- Install and replace damaged drainage pit lids effectively.
- Perform site asset inspections and report any defects, hazards, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain tools and equipment, adhering to safety procedures and standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Formal training in drainage maintenance or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience in operating and maintaining plant and heavy machinery safely.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and manual handling protocols.
- Excellent communication abilities and a dependable, team-oriented mindset.

Salary and Benefits
The role offers a salary within Band 3 ranging from $65,546.09 to $69,801.01, plus Rostered Days Off (RDO) and superannuation.
