Role Summary

The Domestic Network Control Agent, reporting to the Domestic Network Control Group Supervisor, supports both internal and external customers by managing information and services related to the domestic network within tight deadlines. This role involves processing inbound and outbound shipments, load sorting, dispatch, and recovery to ensure optimal operation of the domestic logistics network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with different teams including LOS Hub, GTW, Sales, Customer Service, Service teams, airlines, agents, third-party transport providers, and West Africa Network flight contacts.
  • Ensure materials do not miss cut-off times on the domestic road network, domestic flights, and commercial flights.
  • Monitor timely departures and arrivals of domestic network flights at various airports and oversee shipment loading on vans to multiple destinations.
  • Manage occasional Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations and domestic flight delays.
  • Comply rigorously with DHL Network standards, health and safety, security policies, and government and airline regulations concerning cargo transport by air and road.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external customer inquiries.
  • Disseminate flight information to improve operational visibility during domestic network and CAL flights.
  • Handle transfer and recovery of materials from CAL, agencies, and third-party trucks ensuring proper handover.
  • Send pre-alerts for materials dispatched to different stations and confirm receipt on domestic network flights, CAL, and third-party vehicles.
  • Prepare and submit required DHL network reports such as NMIV, NOTOC, and left-over material reports.
  • Ensure timely recovery and correct handling of materials unable to connect to flights or affected by AOG, preparing them for alternative CAL movements.
  • Process shipments efficiently to meet agreed transit times.
  • Adhere to service contingency and recovery plans within the country.
  • Perform administrative duties needed by the Domestic Network Control Group and provide additional operational support.
  • Collaborate with teammates to complete daily tasks ensuring materials are properly available and secured according to security policies.
  • Follow the latest procedures in processing inbound and outbound materials.
  • Capture and provide shipment, piece, or handling unit information to the network as per standard procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the process area for upcoming cycles.
  • Operate and monitor equipment performance, taking corrective actions if standards fall below requirements.
  • Gain knowledge about broader operational roles through rotational shift mechanisms.
  • Manage dangerous goods safely, ensuring compliance and rejecting concealed dangerous goods from carriage on the domestic network.
  • Maintain proper dress code with standard company uniform during operational hours.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in DHL operations or within the transportation and logistics sector.
  • Educational qualification of OND or an equivalent diploma.
