Opportunity Overview

A leading construction firm is seeking a skilled Document Controller to join a major data centre project located in Newport, South Wales. This role offers a permanent, long-term engagement within the construction sector, focused on ensuring the effective management and distribution of project documentation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain project documents adhering to company and project standards.
  • Manage the issuance, receipt, revision, and distribution processes of all project documentation.
  • Keep precise document logs and ensure all document statuses are current.
  • Upload, review, and circulate drawings, specs, reports, correspondence, and other relevant documents.
  • Ensure project teams have access to the most recent and accurate document revisions.
  • Administer document workflows and approval processes.
  • Support project teams with document retrieval and information requests as needed.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal divisions on document submission matters.
  • Maintain accurate project records efficiently.
  • Assist in the final project documentation close-out and handover phases.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven track record as a Document Controller within the construction industry, preferably on large-scale projects such as data centres, commercial or industrial developments, or major infrastructure schemes.
  • In-depth understanding of construction document control procedures.
  • Proficiency with construction document management software including Viewpoint and Procore.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to manage extensive document volumes precisely and efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude for collaborating effectively with diverse project stakeholders including teams, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Proactive and capable of working independently as well as cooperatively within a busy construction project environment.

Additional Information

This position offers a long-term career path beyond the initial data centre project in Newport. Upon project completion, successful candidates will transfer to other major projects, which may involve relocation and temporary stay away during the working week, with possible project sites including South East England or Newcastle.
