About Broadview Lifecare

Broadview Lifecare, based in scenic Whanganui, offers an 85-bed care home and hospital accompanied by a 27-unit village nestled in a rural setting. The facility provides four care levels including specialized psychogeriatric services, delivering excellent learning opportunities for staff. The team is culturally diverse and committed to the Heritage community’s values of empathy and care.

Role Overview

This permanent, full-time position (32+ hours weekly) from Monday to Friday involves facilitating engaging activities tailored to meet the physical, cognitive, social, spiritual, and emotional requirements of residents. As a Diversional Therapist, you will play a vital role in encouraging community involvement and enhancing residents’ quality of life through innovative and creative programs. A lively, enthusiastic attitude and passion for meaningful resident interaction are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and implement diverse activities daily that cater to residents’ varied needs and preferences.
  • Utilize creativity to develop fresh and stimulating activity ideas.
  • Promote community engagement and social participation among residents.
  • Lead and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Must hold a Diversional Therapy qualification.
  • Experience in Diversional Therapy, preferably within psychogeriatric and dementia care settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong abilities in time management, prioritizing, and multitasking.
  • Leadership skills with the capability to guide a team and work well collaboratively.
  • Possession of a full driver’s license; ability to drive a manual van or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge and application of Nga Paerewa sector standards and incorporation of Treaty of Waitangi principles in practice.
