Distinguished AI Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced and innovative Distinguished AI Engineer to spearhead the creation, development, and deployment of sophisticated AI solutions on a large scale. This principal-level position involves providing technical leadership across AI projects, setting engineering standards, resolving complex challenges, and collaborating closely with leadership, research, product, data, and engineering teams to promote AI-driven business growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and guide the technical vision and architecture for advanced AI and machine learning platforms.
• Create, develop, and launch scalable AI solutions addressing complex business and technological challenges.
• Lead the design and implementation of machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, natural language processing, computer vision, recommendation, and predictive systems where relevant.
• Assess emerging AI technologies, models, and frameworks to find innovation opportunities.
• Optimize AI/ML architectures ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee integration and rollout of large language models, foundational models, AI agents, and smart automation systems.
• Establish best practices for model development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Partner with data scientists, machine learning engineers, software developers, product managers, researchers, and business teams.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to both senior and junior AI engineering staff.
• Lead complex technical investigations and solve high-impact AI engineering issues.
• Devise strategies to optimize models, improve inference efficiency, minimize latency, and enhance resource usage.
• Design robust data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, model training procedures, and MLOps infrastructure.
• Implement standards for AI quality, reliability, security, governance, and ethical AI practices.
• Define coding standards, architecture patterns, and engineering guidelines for AI development.
• Evaluate model performance using metrics for accuracy, fairness, robustness, latency, and business impact.
• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and convert viable research into production-ready AI products.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to identify strategic AI opportunities and shape technology roadmaps.
• Support intellectual property efforts, technical research publications, patents, and innovation programs.
• Keep abreast of advancements in AI research, foundation models, generative AI, reinforcement learning, autonomous systems, and emerging tech.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in AI engineering, machine learning, deep learning, software development, or related areas.
• Proven success designing and deploying complex AI/ML systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning/artificial intelligence architectures, algorithms, and best engineering practices.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python, C++, Java, or equivalent languages.
• Hands-on experience with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Hugging Face, or similar.
• Familiarity with large language models, generative AI, transformers, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, and contemporary AI methodologies is preferred.
• Experience using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Sound understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, APIs, microservices, containerization, and scalable software architectures.
• Extensive background in MLOps practices including deployment, monitoring, versioning, and production AI infrastructure.
• Strong grasp of AI evaluation methods, model optimization, responsible AI, security, and governance.
• Proven analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking capabilities.
• Track record influencing technical strategies across engineering and business units.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills enabling the explanation of complex AI concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience guiding senior engineers, technical leads, and multi-disciplinary AI teams.
• Advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields preferred.
• Significant contributions to AI research, patents, publications, open-source projects, or innovation recognized in industry an advantage.
