Job description

Role Overview

Join the pharmacy team at a local Boots store as a Dispenser, playing an essential role in supporting pharmacists and healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective pharmacy and healthcare services. This position involves direct interaction with patients to understand their needs, dispense prescriptions accurately, and provide guidance to help them make informed health decisions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescriptions precisely while ensuring safe medicine supply including tasks like ordering, labelling, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare colleagues to help manage and deliver pharmacy services efficiently.
  • Offer advice and care about medications to patients and redirect queries appropriately to the Pharmacist.
  • Adhere closely to Standard Operating Procedures for legal and safe dispensing.
  • Stay informed about store innovations and operational guidelines.
  • Assist patients in managing their prescriptions with repeat services and support medication adherence to minimize waste.

Development and Technology

The role offers opportunities to work with emerging in-store technologies that enhance dispensing safety and allow more time to engage with patients. Regular training updates will be provided to expand healthcare knowledge. Career advancement possibilities include training as a Pharmacy Technician or moving into store leadership roles.

Required Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor NVQ2 qualification or an equivalent, or be progressing in an MPharm degree with at least one year completed.
  • Valid UK right to work status is mandatory as this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in community pharmacy is advantageous but not mandatory.
